Meditation/mindfulness Movement/exercise Diet/nutrition Cosmology (relationship to natural world) Feng shui (harmonizing your man-made environment) Bodywork (massage) Herbal medicine Acupuncture The first five rest in self responsibility, though guidance is offered by trained practitioners. The last 3 must be provided by trained practitioners. If the first 5 branches are integrated mindfully into life, it is less likely the last 3 branches will be necessary to maintain balance.
  • Can I take herbs and supplements if I'm already taking pharmaceutical medication(s)?
Most herbs and supplements can be safely taken concurrently with pharmaceutical medications. It is necessary that you disclose all herbs, supplements, pharmaceuticals, vitamins that you are taking or have taken in the last month. It is also recommended that you check with your prescribing practitioners for any drug/herbal interactions. I check for interactions on medscape.

Some herbal supplements are available locally at stores like Sprouts or Natural Grocers. In some communities there are herbal medicine pharmacies. In other cases I may drop ship directly to you. • How does Chinese Herbal Medicine work?
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a complete medical system, just as allopathic medicine is. The diagnostic system is pattern based. For example: 3 people have received a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. In Chinese medicine, the people may have 3 completely different pattern diagnosis, and will be prescribed herbs or other treatments based on their own individual pattern. Treating people with Chinese Medicine is a 3 step process: 1- Complete a detailed intake with the patient encompassing symptoms and constitutional qualities (preexisting, or "born with it" characteristics) 2- Form a pattern diagnosis based on the information gathered 3= Prescribe treatment based on the pattern diagnosis
